Project Detail

Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor for NGC Renewable's manufacturing facility located in Fort Worth, Texas. NGC is one of the world's largest manufacturers of solar wind turbines. The new industrial and manufacturing facility in Fort Worth will be used to refurbish and test wind tower main drive gear boxes, which are integral components to wind power turbines.

The new industrial and manufacturing facility was built using tilt-up construction and is finished with white paint and blue trim. A truck court and employee parking was built during the construction, and the facility is secured with a fence and electric gate system.

Inside, the NGC building provides more than 100,000 SF of manufacturing, servicing and testing space. The entire building is air conditioned, with ESFR sprinkler system, skylights and a 34-foot clear height. Access to the manufacturing space is provided through three dock high doors and five drive-in doors. Steel beams mounted throughout the facility provide an extensive rail system for multiple bridge cranes, each with a lift capacity of up to 85 tons; all told, 1,115 tons of steel was used to create the building and all its railing.

The building includes a climate-controlled room for work on sensitive components to the gear boxes and the associated equipment. Also included is a large stand with generators to testing refurbished systems. Additionally, the building features 15,000 SF of office space over two floors at the front entrance.
