Michaels Stores, Inc. (NYSE: MIK) became a publicly held company in 1984 with only 16 retail stores. Since that time, the company has grown to become the nation's largest specialty retailer of home décor, art and craft project materials. More than 920 Michaels stores can be found in 48 U.S. states and in Canada; company sales have topped $3.6 billion in FY 2005, and FY2006 is on track to be the tenth consecutive year of growth for the company. Each store carries an average of 40,000 items and offers in-store events, classrooms, and instructional displays, inspiring their customers to pursue their creative goals.
Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor for the newest Michaels retail store in Mansfield, Texas. This construction project was built on behalf of Kossman Development Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The new store was constructed in 12" CMU blocks to match the style of the other stores in the Mansfield Town Center West shopping development. It features a 1,639 SF mezzanine, and a material handling conveyor. Along with the retail space is a classroom for hobbyists to learn crafting techniques.
Bob Moore Construction completed this project was completed
in just 142 days.

The building is finished in a stone veneer to match the other retail stores in Mansfield Town Center West. It includes a 56 tower, with an intricate main entry façade that incorporates three different elevations into one building. The main entry is completely EIFS and Cultured Stone masonry.
- Building H, Mansfield Texas - Features 22,100 SF of retail space; the shell was constructed with CMU concrete blocks. The building is finished in a stone veneer to match the other retail stores in Mansfield Town Center West.
- Petco Pet Foods, Supplies and Services Store, Mansfield Texas - The 15,500 SF PETCO retail store features a complete pet grooming area, a large bird habitat, aquarium and reptile centers and a pet adoption center.
