This distribution center was built for Mervyn's Department Stores of San Francisco to support their department stores throughout the Midwest. The facility was built in concert with Butler Manufacturing of Kansas City, Missouri. It includes a blending of pre-engineered structural steel and a standing seam roof system with a conventional insulated tiltwall system supported by drilled piers. The mix of prefabricated steel construction and tilt-up construction processes provided the best mix of controlling construction costs and providing the flexibility to deliver a distribution center that met Mervyn's needs.
Located just north of Dallas in Plano, Texas, the entire 533,000 square foot distribution center is air conditioned and houses one of the most sophisticated conveyor and sorter systems in the industry.
