Coaster Company of America Moves to New Distribution Center

Furniture distributor relocates to new 405,000 SF facility in Northeast Fort Worth

ARLINGTON, TEXAS - September 27, 2004 - Coaster Company of America has been an importer and distributor of fine furniture in the United States and Mexico since 1979. The company offers a diverse selection of casual and formal dining furniture, entertainment centers, home theater chairs, couches, futons, bedroom sets, bunk beds, daybeds, occasional tables, curios, wall decor and many other accessories for the home. Coaster maintains regional distribution / call centers in California, Illinois, Georgia, Florida and Texas. They market their products through a retail network that covers more than 40 U.S. states and Mexico, from their seven branches in California, Illinois, New Jersey, Georgia, Florida and Texas, and through their own catalog for dealers and end-users.

In 2003 Coaster finalized negotiations with Seefried Properties on a new distribution /call center to be built on an 18-acre site in RiverPark, Seefried's 230 acre master planned Business Park located just south of the DFW International Airport. Bob Moore Construction was the General Contractor, Teague Nall & Perkins in Fort Worth performed Civil Engineering duties and Realacorp America in Atlanta, Georgia managed A/E and structural design for this 405,000 SF build-to-suit project.

"When construction started there were less than nine months before Coaster needed occupancy," said Brian Flaherty, Director of Development with Seefried Properties. "The real catch on this project was that it started raining in late fall and did not stop until late spring. Despite the weather Kyle Whitesell and Jerry Clem, Bob Moore's project management team, really came through for us. Seefried was able to grant Coaster early occupancy for rack installation, allowing them to bring in over 600 truckloads of product and begin operating out of their new facility by mid July, 2004. Meeting the client's deadline is always critical on any build-to-suit project, and Bob Moore beat it."

The new Coaster Company of America new distribution center / call center in Fort Worth, Texas includes 385,000 SF of warehouse and distribution space.The new Coaster Company facility consists of 385,000 SF of warehouse space with 60 dock doors for general receiving and shipping, and parking for 60 trailers. Three oversized grade-level doors serve Coaster's "Will Call" business. The 20,000 SF finished office area includes a 15,000 SF furniture showroom, a 2,500 SF customer service area and 2,500 SF of office / breakroom space. To support Coaster's call center operations, the building is served with three 100 pair copper lines and is fiber optics capable.

"From start to finish this was a smooth project," said Kyle Whitesell, Senior Project Manager for Bob Moore Construction. "The biggest challenge we faced was the fact that the property was 1,000 feet from the closest paved road. The project was a two-way race to completion, with Seefried Properties working the road and utilities towards the facility as Bob Moore was building the shell. Brian is a true professional and did a great job of ensuring the public and communications infrastructure did not slow down the building's construction. As a result, we were able to deliver the facility ahead of schedule."
