Bob Moore Construction's Ed McGuire appointed to Prestigious Committee for the American Concrete Institute
Vice President of Construction for Bob Moore Construction named consulting member of the ACI Committee 301 - Specifications for Concrete group
ARLINGTON, TEXAS - December 20, 2006 - Ed McGuire, Vice President of Construction for Bob Moore Construction, has been appointed as a consulting member of the American Concrete Institute (ACI) Committee 301 - Specifications for Concrete group.
Founded in 1904, the ACI is recognized as a leading source of guidance and information regarding concrete construction. The ACI conducts seminars, manages 14 different certification programs, publishes more than 400 technical documents, and provides scholarships to construction and engineering students. The organization has 98 chapters and 15,000 members spanning 108 countries.
The mission of Committee 301 is to develop and maintain standard specifications for concrete. The specifications coming from this group are used nationwide by architects, contractors and state and local governments as the definitive, contractual standards for concrete construction.
Mr. McGuire has been with Bob Moore Construction since 1984. In 1996 he was named Vice President of Construction and became a full partner in 2004. He has served in leadership capacities with various trade organizations including the Tilt-up Concrete Association (TCA) and the ACI. Prior to his appointment to ACI's Committee 301, Mr. McGuire has served on ACI committees that developed guidelines for construction of concrete floors, proportioning concrete mixtures, design for slabs on grade, and tilt-up concrete construction.
"I'm very pleased to be part of Committee 301," said Mr. McGuire. "Most of ACI's committees create guidance documents that provide recommended best practices for various aspects of concrete construction. Committee 301 creates formal specifications. Those specifications provide specific, directive language for quality standards and performance procedures that are directly referenced in contracts and permitting documents all around the country. This is an opportunity to participate in work that will positively influence the commercial construction industry from coast to coast. I'm honored to be included in this prestigious group."
"This is an exciting appointment for Ed," said Phillip Bell, President of Bob Moore Construction. "Ed is a natural leader for us and for any organization he is part of. He has already played a major role in the advancement of concrete and tilt-up construction with his participation in TCA and ACI committees, and his latest appointment will allow him to have an even more influential role. Historically, Committee 301 is comprised of the best minds and most highly regarded leaders in the construction industry. To have one of our own be a member of that very select group is a positive reflection on our company as well as a well-deserved form of recognition for Ed."
