Best Buy Opens New Retail Location in North Texas
New Technology Store Showcases
'The Latest and Greatest Best Buy Has to Offer"
ARLINGTON,
TEXAS - October 24, 2005 - Best Buy Co., Inc. (NYSE: BBY) markets thousands
of technology and entertainment products and services. This Fortune 100 Company,
based in Minneapolis Minnesota, sells consumer electronics, home-office products,
entertainment software, appliances and related services through more than 830
retail stores across the United States and in Canada.
On October 21 Best Buy opened its newest store in Mansfield, Texas. Bob Moore Construction was the general contractor for this new retail building, on behalf of Kossman Development Company in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
The new store is Best Buy's first in the city of Mansfield and the 65th store in the state of Texas. The 30,000 SF store is also the first in Dallas / Fort Worth, and only one of approximately 20 Best Buy stores worldwide, to feature color coded décor and a Personal Shopping Assistant (PSA) kiosk. PSA is a new service that provides free, highly trained assistants to help the consumer make selections or even to shop on their behalf while the consumer relaxes and waits - all to make shopping easier, more friendly and more convenient.
"This store features the latest and greatest that Best Buy has to offer," said Brad Shepherd, New Store Opening Manager for Best Buy. "PSA has been tested in various forms over the past couple years but is only being rolled out now, and this store in Mansfield is the first north Texas store to have it. It's a whole new approach to making shopping for technology as simple as possible. With PSA and the color-coded departments, the store is designed to make shopping for even the most technological things as easy as possible for any consumer. And it looks very, very nice."
"The
store looks great," said Brett Jeffreys, General Manager for the new store.
"I was very happy that we could use the stone finish. It's one of the best
looking stores I've seen."
Shepherd was pleased with his experience with Bob Moore Construction. "Sometimes construction can be a nightmare but this project has been very smooth," he said. "I've been very impressed with our initial walkthrough and with the site superintendents' professionalism."
Curt Hellen, Senior Project Manager for Bob Moore Construction, was very pleased with the store. "The building turned out beautifully and the stone veneer fits in seamlessly with the rest of the stores in the town center," he said. "It was a pleasure to work with Kossman Development and the city of Mansfield, as well as the people at Best Buy. The whole project went very smoothly and right on schedule."
The new Best Buy store is the latest addition to Mansfield
Town Center West, a major north Texas shopping development that features well-known
retail names like Cinemark USA, Washington Mutual Bank and Quiznos Sub. The Cinemark
12 Theater recently earned Bob Moore Construction Texas Construction Magazine's
2005 "Best Of" Award for Entertainment Building construction.
