ARLINGTON,
TEXAS - December 20, 2006 - Ed McGuire, Vice President of Construction for
Bob Moore Construction, has been appointed as a consulting member of the American
Concrete Institute (ACI) Committee 301 - Specifications for Concrete group.
Founded in 1904, the ACI is recognized as a leading source of guidance and information regarding concrete construction. The ACI conducts seminars, manages 14 different certification programs, publishes more than 400 technical documents, and provides scholarships to construction and engineering students. The organization has 98 chapters and 15,000 members spanning 108 countries.
The mission of Committee 301 is to develop and maintain standard specifications for concrete. The specifications coming from this group are used nationwide by architects, contractors and state and local governments as the definitive, contractual standards for concrete construction.
Mr. McGuire has been with Bob Moore Construction since 1984. In 1996 he was named Vice President of Construction and became a full partner in 2004. He has served in leadership capacities with various trade organizations including the Tilt-up Concrete Association (TCA) and the ACI. Prior to his appointment to ACI's Committee 301, Mr. McGuire has served on ACI committees that developed guidelines for construction of concrete floors, proportioning concrete mixtures, design for slabs on grade, and tilt-up concrete construction.
