Location: Grand Prairie, Texas

Bob Moore Construction was the design / build contractor for the Oldcastle Building Envelope Manufacturing Facility in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Constructed with tilt-up construction, the 104,000 SF building is finished in gray textured coating with green accent stripe.  It features a TPO roof.  Seven loading docks provide access for materials and distribution of finished products. The new building is tied in to the old structure through two pre-existing dock doors.

Inside, the manufacturing space offers a 28’ clear height. It houses several manufacturing lines for insulated glass, glass tempering and cutting to support the production of exterior and storefront glass. The facility includes two 5,000 amp services, autoclaves, tempering furnace, two cooling towers and dust collector with generator-based back-up power.

Two five-ton cranes and 14 hand-operated Gorbel cranes are mounted on the ceiling to support the safe movement of products and materials around the space. A portion of the new facility is dedicated to staging of finished product for distribution, with additional space separated into breakroom, restroom and locker room facilities.

The new building was constructed directly adjacent and tied in to the existing facility, tripling the available manufacturing space for this leading producer of commercial glass products. The building was designed to support three separate 200-foot production lines. Underground infrastructure was engineered and created to fit the custom-designed manufacturing equipment used by Oldcastle.

The existing manufacturing facility stayed in full production during the construction process; we phased the construction of parking and truck lanes to avoid interruptions to the company’s production.
